ADRIAN, MI – The Simon Fraser University Red Leafs are back in Michigan for the second trip this season; this time to face the Adrian College Bulldogs in the first of two games this weekend.

The Bulldogs, representing Adrian College in Adrian, Michigan, are the first NCAA Division III team the Red Leafs will face this year.

“You know they’re going to be chomping at the bit to play a team trying to go D1,” said Head Coach Mark Coletta on the Rise In Red Podcast this week.

“They’re just starting their season now,” continued Coletta, “they’ll be fast and tenacious.”

“They were in the championship game in their league last season.”

When asked about the difference between the NCAA D1 and D3 levels, Coletta noted the gap isn’t as big as it may seem.

“There are a lot of D3 programs that could be D1 and vice versa.”

This will be the fifth game for the non-conference Red Leafs and the fifth time that SFU opens up their opponent’s season, providing the first games for UBC, TWU, Michigan, and Colorado College.
