RELEASE | Red Leafs add defenceman Nicco Camazzola to the non-conference roster for remaining 2024.25 schedule
BURNABY, BC – The Simon Fraser University Red Leafs have added defenceman Nicco Camazzola to the roster for the remainder of the 2024.25 season.
Camazzola, a 6’2” left-shot defenceman from Burnaby, joins the Red Leafs after two seasons in the WHL with the Vancouver Giants and Tri-City Americans and a season with the AJHL’s Drayton Valley Thunder. Camazzola adds a physical dimension to an already sizeable blue line at SFU, racking up 119 penalty minutes in 19 games with the Thunder in 2023.24. The defenceman was invited to the ECHL’s Fort Wayne Komets’ training camp this year, and has spent the last few months focusing on his academics to join SFU.
“It’s really great to have another solid defender that can use his size and get up and down the ice,” said Head Coach Mark Coletta, “He’s familiar with this group which is a nice bonus, plus his WHL and ECHL camp experience will help him at this level.”
Camazzola will make his season debut on Friday in Fairbanks against the Nanooks wearing #53 as the Red Leafs look to add more wins to their record before the end of the year.
