BURNABY, BC – The Simon Fraser University Red Leafs Hockey program is excited to announce the commitment of forward Austin Fraser to the non-conference roster for the 2024.25 season.

Fraser, from West Vancouver, is SFU’s first NCAA transfer of the 2025 season after playing for the Lindenwood University Lions in St. Charles, Missouri for the 2024 season. Prior to joining the NCAA, Fraser spent three full years at the Junior “A” level in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) with the Coquitlam Express and Prince George Spruce Kings, tallying 61 points in 126 games.

“Having him come in from that NCAA Division 1 environment is gonna be hugely beneficial,” said Head Coach Mark Coletta, “he adds a lot of size to our roster and had a couple of really good years in Prince George before going to Lindenwood, so we’re looking forward to bringing him in."

”When you can bring back these local guys to play who are familiar with some of the guys in the room, it’s a good thing.”

Fraser becomes one of two current players with NCAA experience prior to coming to SFU, joining defenceman Jimmy Darby (Alaska-Anchorage, 2023).
