PITTSBURGH, PA – The Simon Fraser University Red Leafs head back out on the ice to take on the Robert Morris University Colonials.

The Red Leafs enter Saturday’s game after a 6-1 win over the ACHA MD1 University of Pittsburgh Panthers on Friday night. 6 different SFU players found the back of the net, including the game winner from Captain Nick Wicks and the first goal of the season for Liam Visram.

The Colonials program is entering their first year back to play after being cut by the university back in 2021. The program competes in the Atlantic Hockey conference against teams such as Rochester I.T., Holy Cross, and Sacred Heart, and is currently in 3rd place in the conference with a 1-2-2 record.

SFU has gotten closer in recent matchups against NCAA Division 1 programs, including dropping a close 6-4 decision after leading through 40 minutes to the Lake Superior State University Lakers just two weeks ago.

“I think we’ve proved the past couple of weeks in a row that we can compete and skate at that level,” said Head Coach Mark Coletta on the Rise In Red Podcast, “now it’s just about finding that confidence.”

“We believe we can win, and we’re going to try to do that.”

Puck drop is at 4:00pm PT, and the game can be streamed on FloHockey.
