PREVIEW | Red Leafs to face first ACHA D1 program in Pitt Panthers
PITTSBURGH, PA – The Simon Fraser University Red Leafs are set to take on their first ACHA D1 competition of the year against the University of Pittsburgh Panthers.
The Panthers, ranked #25 nationally in the men’s ACHA first division, currently hold a 7-5-1 record with a +7 goal differential this season and sit 2nd in the Eastern States Collegiate Hockey League (ESCHL) standings, and 23rd in the ACHA MD1 standings.
“We’ve got to focus on what we do well and work on those things,” said Head Coach Mark Coletta on the Rise In Red Podcast this week, “Focusing on what we do well and controlling our own energy level and preparedness is key.”
The Panthers finished the 2022.23 season 18th in the ACHA MD1 standings and ranked #12, and were knocked out of the first round of Nationals by the #5 ranked Liberty University Flames.
Puck drop is scheduled for 3:20 PDT; broadcast information will be shared if it becomes available, otherwise you can follow @SFUHockey on Twitter / X for live scoring updates.
Back in Burnaby, the BCIHL team will look to stay above .500 in the standings and rebound from last weekend’s results at home against the Okanagan Lakers.
