PREVIEW | Red Leafs Return Home for Three in November

BURNABY, BC – The Simon Fraser University Red Leafs are halfway through the 2024.25 campaign, and for three games this month the team will be at home at the Bill Copeland Sports Centre.

Starting tomorrow, SFU will host the #15 ranked ACHA DI Maryville University Saints for two on Friday and Saturday, November 1st and 2nd. Maryville makes their way to Burnaby for the first time ever, and holds a 7-4-1 overall record this season. Both clubs enter the weekend with NCAA D1 aspirations and will be looking for add two Ws to their records, setting up what is sure to be an intense battle for both games.

Next weekend the Red Leafs will be back on the road for two, starting on Friday, November 8th in Canton, NY to face the NCAA DI St. Lawrence University Saints. St. Lawrence has 8 games under their belt, going 4-4-0 and winning two of their games in overtime.

The next day on November 9th, SFU will make their way east to Plattsburgh, NY to face the NCAA DIII State University of New York–Plattsburgh Cardinals, who are 0-0-1 so far, only playing their first game of the year on Oct. 26 at Skidmore College in a 3-2 overtime loss. The game will be a bit of a homecoming for Head Coach Mark Coletta, who won the 2001 NCAA DIII National Championship with Plattsburgh.

Wrapping up the home action for the year, SFU will host the BCIHL University of Victoria Vikes on November 29th. UVic has been elevating their schedule these last two seasons, adding multiple non-conference games against USports and ACAC competition. This season UVic has played 4 of these non-conference games, going 1-3-0 with a 4-0 lone win over the Concordia University of Edmonton. The Vikes hold a 2-0-1 record in the BCIHL thus far, good for third place behind VIU (4-0-1) and the SFU BCIHL Club team (3-1-0). UVic will not play the SFU BCIHL Club until Nov. 8th.
