GAMEDAY | Red Leafs look to sweep homecoming weekend vs. Maryville

BURNABY, BC – After a 6-4 win over the Maryville Saints on Friday, the Simon Fraser University Red Leafs will look to sweep the weekend on Saturday night.
Leading the charge in Friday’s action was Walker Erickson tallying 3 points (1G, 2A) and Austin Fraser with two goals including the game winner.
“It feels good to play at home after a long stint on the road,” said Fraser after the game, “Obviously we have some things to clean up…but we had some good performances tonight.”
“I think we know what we’re in for tomorrow…overall, we just need to move the puck faster and finish our checks, so it should be a better game tomorrow.”
Head Coach Mark Coletta felt his group could deliver more despite the win.
“There were a lot of passengers tonight, but we had some good performances,” said Coletta, “Two week layoff, yeah you can use that as an excuse, but that’s just an excuse.”
“We’ve got to fix that tomorrow going into the second part of a doubleheader.”
SFU spent a majority of the first and second period in the offensive zone and capitalizing on their chances but the third period saw Maryville storm back to almost tie the game, with Austin Fraser netting the insurance empty net goal with just a minute left in the third.
